
The Dialectic Duel
Debate Competition
Dialectic Duel 2.0 is an inter-college debate competition that tests participants’ analytical thinking, argumentation, and rebuttal skills. Each participant will receive a motion and assigned stance prior to the debate and compete through structured rounds including arguments, rebuttals, and closing statements. Judging will be based on clarity, relevance, responsiveness, and presentation, with debates centered on contemporary social, political, ethical, and philosophical issues.

RULES AND REGULATION
Rules and regulations are subject to change.
1. Eligibility
The competition is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students from recognized institutions only.
2. Participation Format
Registration is strictly solo, with only one participant per institute permitted.
3. Pairing
Participants will be paired by the Organising Committee on the day of the competition to argue for and against the motion.
4. Debate Format
The debate will follow an Oxford-style format. Each participant will receive 3+1 minutes (3 minutes for the main speech and 1 minute for rebuttal).
5. Debate Motion
The motion for the debate is:
“Live-in relationships are the biggest threat to the sanctity and cultural ethos of marriage.”
6. Language & Time
The debate will be conducted only in English, and participants must strictly adhere to time limits.
7. Stance Allocation
The stance (Proposition/Opposition) will be assigned through a draw of lots on the event day.
8. Code of Conduct
Use of offensive, derogatory, defamatory, or inflammatory language will result in immediate disqualification.
9. Awards & Judging
Two winning titles will be awarded:

Best Speaker – Against
Judges’ decisions will be final and binding.
10. Organizer’s Authority
The Organising Committee reserves the right to modify rules or format in case of unforeseen circumstances.
