MOTION: “Beauty no longer lies in the eyes of the beholder”
Event Type: Solo | Minimum Participants: 1 | Maximum Participants: 1 | Registration Fees: Rs. 300/- | Date of Event: 6th March, 2025
1. General Format
1.1 The debate shall follow the Oxford-style format, with speakers assigned to either For or Against the motion via a draw of lots before the event.
1.2 The event shall be conducted in English, and participants must adhere to parliamentary language and decorum. Any use of unparliamentary language may lead to immediate disqualification.
1.3 The debate shall be a one-day event, and all participants must be present for the entire duration.
2. Structure of the Debate
2.1 Each participant shall have 4 minutes for their primary speech, followed by 1 minute for rebuttal.
2.2 The speaking order shall alternate between For and Against sides.
2.3 A warning bell shall be rung at 3 minutes 30 seconds, and a final bell at 4 minutes to signal the end of the main speech.
2.4 A warning bell for rebuttal shall be rung at 45 seconds, and a final bell at 1 minute.
3. Rebuttals and Interjections
3.1 Each speaker must provide a structured and logical rebuttal within their allotted rebuttal time.
3.2 Rebuttals must directly address arguments made by the opposing side and should not introduce new arguments.
3.3 Speakers shall not interrupt opponents during their speeches. Interjections are not permitted outside the rebuttal period.
4. Motion of the Debate shall be:

5. Winners and Awards
5.1 There shall be 4 winners, two for the motion, and two against it.
5.2 In the event of a tie, judges shall deliberate and declare the winner based on overall impact and consistency.
6. Code of Conduct
6.1 Participants must maintain civility and decorum at all times.
6.2 Personal attacks, derogatory remarks, or offensive language shall result in penalties or disqualification.
6.3 Any form of plagiarism, external assistance, or disruptive behavior shall lead to immediate disqualification.
7. Miscellaneous Provisions
7.1 The debate chairperson/moderator shall have the authority to maintain order, enforce time limits, and ensure fairness.
7.2 Any disputes regarding rules or results must be submitted in writing to the organizing committee within 30 minutes of the conclusion of the event.
